The Lakme Fashion Week 2016 presented by #LYFSmartphones has been the talk of the town, for all the right reasons, because of the odds that were broken at it.
The traditional thinking of fashion, where only models could walk the ramp as they maintained their figure was no longer a requirement for modelling as “Fashion met Technology” by striking the right chord between Lakme Fashion Week 2016 and #LYFSmartphones.
So here are a couple of things that broke the odds at the Lakme Fashion Week 2016.
Pregnant Carol Gracias
Sounds astonishing right? But yes Gaurang Shah did it with Carol Gracias when she walked the ramp for his collection in a beautiful green coloured saree flaunting her baby bump while she walked in heels.
At the ramp she celebrated the beautiful feeling of motherhood and how precious it was to women. She looked drop dead gorgeous!
Reliance Retails’ online fashion and style destination AJIO #DoubtIsOut Collection was the greatest breaking the odds show as the change began at every collection showcased.
- Transgender Laxmi Tripathi.
We all know Laxmi, who is a transgender rights activist, and has made some notable impacts for the transgender community. She walked the ramp highlighting “Gender No Bar” which definitely made a great impact in the fashion industry.
- Yesteryear Bollywood Actress Helen.
A dream of men till date from the time she joined the Bollywood industry when she was in her teens, Helen has aged gracefully and she walked the ramp showing “Age No Bar” and how one could look young and fashionable even at an old age.
- Pilot Suman Sharma, MIG Fighter Jet.
Yes you read it right, the talented and India’s first woman pilot to fly the MIG Fighter Jet walked the ramp with “Career No Bar” showcasing how one could have and enjoy the best of both worlds.
- Comedian Bharti Singh.
Oh yes Bharti Singh, who rose to fame through The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and has made us laugh our guts out through the portrayal of the character Lali, walked the ramp for “Size no Bar” showing that one need not be slim but just themselves in terms of their size to walk the ramp.
- Bollywood Actress Sunny Leone
As much as she is loved in the Bollywood Industry for her acting and cuteness, her life has been filled with controversies for the choices she had made in her past, so it was great to see her walk the ramp for “Choice No Bar” showcasing that one’s choice should not come in between for achieving anything.
I bet these odds that were broken were an eye opener and an encouragement to all of us as we are living in an age where times are changing rapidly and we all need to break away from the traditional way of thinking we nurture and carry on in our lives.
#LYFSmartphones helps bridge the gap with Lakme Fashion Week 2016 by not only breaking the odds but having fashion and technology meet and be in pace with each other.
