Hi guys! Today’s review is about the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams in the shades Prague-18, Copenhagen-20 and Transylvania-21. The soft matte lip cream range from NYX is quite extensive, but I chose these three specifically because they remind me of fall and winter!

I’m a big fan of matte lipstick and would choose matte over gloss or satin finish any day. I have plump lips and it was always something I’ve been conscious about. When I was younger and lip gloss was the only makeup I could use, it always made me feel uncomfortable. I’m so glad for matte lipstick as it accentuates my lips, makes me feel comfortable in my skin and suits me to boot! Let’s get on with the review now 🙂

Price:  Rs. 600 for 8 ml of product. Available online at Nykaa and Amazon

Shelf life:  18 months.

Description:  Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, NYX soft matte lip cream is a new kind of lip colour that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish.

The product comes in a tube format with a black velvet matte cap. It has a furry doe foot applicator, which I personally love as it helps me get that precise edge. The bottom half of the tube is shade coloured, which helps in identifying different shades easily.

The lip creams have a scent which reminds me of marshmallows and vanilla icing! It lingers a while after application, but is not overpowering. It takes 2-4 minutes to dry after application but does not feel tacky.

The lip creams last for around 5-6 hours on me with light snacking and then starts to fade leaving a tint.

Keep in mind that since these are matte, you need to moisturize and exfoliate your lips thoroughly before use, otherwise the lipstick will cling to dry patches and ruin the effect.

My Experience:

SWATCHES :-

Prague – 18.

Prague is a pink, medium toned berry shade which can be worn during the day as well as night, and does not make you look washed out. It does not settle into fine lines and texture wise it is definitely the creamiest of all three shades.

Copenhagen – 20

Copenhagen is a perfect plum berry shade. It applies smooth, does not settle in fine lines and can be built up for a more intense effect. This shade compliments various skin tones and can be worn on a bare face as well as a full glam look.

Transylvania – 21

Transylvania is the deepest and darkest color of all three. It is a deep purple plum color. Formulation wise it is very different from the others, it goes on patchy and streaky and tends to settle in fine lines. One coat is not enough, it definitely need to be built up. Looks better when used with a lip liner. This is a night only shade for me and on a full face of makeup.

Pros:

  1. Creamy formula
  2. Easy to apply
  3. Dries matte
  4. Does not feel uncomfortable
  5. Not drying
  6. Great shades for fall winter

Cons:

  1. Not smudge proof
  2. Not transfer proof
  3. Tends to cling to dry patches
  4. Needs to be reapplied

My ratings for the product would be 4/5.
